The Hostess with the Mostess

It's that special time of year where loved ones gather for the holidays to spend time together, sing, laugh and just enjoy! Unless you're the one hosting! In that case it is one of the most stressful times of the year and you barely get to join in on all of the visiting and conversation and you're usually the one cleaning up the mess after its all over! Not this year! We have gathered some ideas for you to make your holiday meal preparation an easy and delicious event. As well as presented like it was straight from a magazine! We are featuring Wind & Willow Gourmet Food as well as Gracious Goods kitchen accents. We have also included ideas for the guest to thank your hostess for the hard work and preparation for the gathering! 

"The Appetizer"

begin the night with a savory starter that will prepare your guests for the main course!

AWESOME NACHO DIP 1 Chili & Cheese Hot Dip Mix 8 oz Cream Cheese 1/2 c Sour Cream 1 Tbs Chili Powder*  1 lb Ground Beef 1-1/2 c Shredded Cheddar Cheese 1-1/2 c Shredded Lettuce 1/2 c Diced Tomatoes (optional)  1/4 c Black Olives, sliced (optional)  Prepare Chili & Cheese Hot Dip according to pkg directions using the cream cheese and sour cream.  Meanwhile add chili powder to ground beef, cook, crumble, and drain well.  Spread prepared dip into the bottom of an 8x8 pan or a round pie plate.  Top with seasoned ground beef, cheese, lettuce, tomatoes and olives. Serve! Use as a dip for tortilla chips or veggies.

CHIPOTLE PARTY MIX 1 Chipotle Cheddar Dip Mix 10 cups Assorted Cereal 1/4 cup Oil In large mixing bowl combine cereal mix (pretzels, oyster crackers, rice and oat square cereal) and oil until well coated. Sprinkle Dip Mix into bowl and toss until thoroughly mixed. Optional: Add festive candy, raisins or nuts for an extra treat.

1 Chipotle Cheddar Dip Mix
10 cups Assorted Cereal
1/4 cup Oil

In large mixing bowl combine cereal mix (pretzels, oyster crackers, rice and oat square cereal) and oil until well coated. Sprinkle Dip Mix into bowl and toss until thoroughly mixed. Optional: Add festive candy, raisins or nuts for an extra treat.

We have included two dishes by Gracious Goods as examples as to how to display your appetizers! Display is important because your guests will veer towards the unique display you have created! 


"The Main Dish"

Blow your guests away with flavor and have them coming back for seconds! 

LEMON ROSEMARY CHICKEN Wind & Willow Lemon Cheesecake Cheeseball & Dessert Mix 2 Lbs. skin-on bone-in chicken, such as thighs or drumsticks 1 cup chicken broth 2 Tbsp. minced garlic 2 Tbsp. butter 8 rosemary sprigs (2 Tbsp. if using dried herbs) 1 Lb. fingerling potatoes 1 lemon, halved 1 salt and pepper Preheat the oven to 400 degrees. Set the chicken (skin side up), potatoes and lemon halves out in baking dish. Try to keep the chicken from touching other chicken so the meat cooks more evenly. Put the small potatoes into the spaces between the chicken. Sprinkle liberally with salt and pepper.  Pull the leaves off of the rosemary sprigs and put them in a sauce pot. Add Cheeseball Mix, chicken broth, garlic and butter to pot. Heat mixture over medium low heat. Allow the butter to melt and stir so all ingredients are combined. Let the sauce reach a gentle boil then reduce to a simmer for a couple of minutes. Sprinkle chicken and potatoes with topping packet then pour rosemary mixture over the top. Cook the chicken for about 50 minutes, or until skin is brown and chicken is cooked through.

Wind & Willow Lemon Cheesecake Cheeseball & Dessert Mix

"The Dessert"

Choose something festive and visually appealing! Many times your guests will be full by the time dessert is served and opt out. Your dessert should be so IRRESISTIBLe that your guests are glad they indulged!  

DESSERT PIZZA Wind & Willow Chocolate Chip Cheeseball & Dessert Mix 8 oz cream cheese 4 Tbs butter 1 package refrigerated cookie dough Heat oven to 350°F. Press dough evenly in bottom of a greased 12" round pan to form crust. Bake 16 to 20 minutes or until golden brown. Set aside and let cool. Meanwhile combine Cheeseball Mix with cream cheese and butter until smooth. Spread mixture on crust and sprinkle with Topping packet. Top with nuts, seeds and candies! Refrigerate until ready to serve!   We topped this Holiday Dessert Pizza with cranberries, chocolate, and crushed peppermints.

Mix

4 Tbs butter
1 package refrigerated cookie dough

Heat oven to 350°F. Press dough evenly in bottom of a greased 12" round pan to form crust. Bake 16 to 20 minutes or until golden brown. Set aside and let cool. Meanwhile combine Cheeseball Mix with cream cheese and butter until smooth. Spread mixture on crust and sprinkle with Topping packet. Top with nuts, seeds and candies! Refrigerate until ready to serve!  

We topped this Holiday Dessert Pizza with cranberries, chocolate, and crushed peppermints.

Quick Display Tip: Showcase your dessert on a nice raised platter and in small bite sizes pieces. Your guests will be more like to enjoy your dessert with their fingers rather than cutting a slice and eating it on a plate with a fork! 


"The Guest"

A way to say thank you to you hostess is to bring a nice gift. below are a few ideas so to what to give as a warm thank you!
